Project Summary

Omaruru is an early stage exploration project consisting of one EPL covering approximately 73,000 hectares in north central Namibia near the town of Omaruru. The EPL is located approximately 70 kilometres northeast of Navachab, covers folded and faulted altered lithologies similar to the mine horizon at Anglo American's Navachab Gold Mine, a low cost gold producer having reported reserves of over 10 million tones at a gold grade of 2.4 g/t. Westport is targeting a skarn gold deposit similar to Navachab. The EPL is valid until 2007.

The Omaruru gold project is located in the Neoproterozoic intracratonic Damara Belt comprising metasediment-metavolcanic sequence of lithologies. The Karibib Formation comprising quartz-biotite schists and marbles underlies the immediate project area and is the host rock of the Navachab deposit. Regional Geological Survey mapping and airborne geophysics within the project area indicate that a number of faults are in close proximity to gold in soil anomalies previously identified on the property. A major east-west trending structure may have significant roll in gold emplacement

The Omaruru area was subject to an earlier gold exploration program by Anglo in 1990. Their regional stream geochemistry and detailed soil-sampling program identified several large areas with anomalous gold values. Widespread garnet-diopside skarn alteration with occasional elevated gold values in marbles was reported in several horizons over considerable strike lengths.

Independent consultant reviewed the historical data including multi-survey airborne data and radiometric data to map geology has successfully indicated six dome structures that may have potential to host Navachab style mineralization. Five of the six locations are within 4-5 km from a major first order structure, the Waterberg Trust and are situated on the northern limbs of second and third order dome structure features similar to Navachab.
